Visited the City of London Metropolitan Archive. Maureen Roberts, of the archive, showed me the wonderful facilities there which our volunteers can use to help us uncover the stories at Chiswick House and Gardens as well as at St Saviour’s Deaf Church, Acton. In particular for the church, there are records of a variety of services, etc, plus a collection of photographs. Thanks to Maureen and an intern from Goldsmiths, Sophie, who is studying History and the History of Ideas as her degree – that is a project all in itself! Sophie carried out an initial search using the archive’s online catalogue which our volunteers will be shown how to use. Can’t wait to recruit our teams. Watch this space for a role description and registration form.
