Bristol Research Group meeting – and your invitation to attend

The Bristol VRAG group is being formed to research into the lives of deaf and disabled people throughout Bristol History, especially relating to the Guild of The Brave and Poor in Old Market.

On Wednesday March 23rd a diverse group of bright-eyed and keen volunteers came together at the Vassall centre in Fishponds, to talk about the research and archive group. The Bristol VRAG group is being formed to research into the lives of deaf and disabled people throughout Bristol History, especially relating to the Guild of The Brave and Poor in Old Market.

An informal meeting to chat about ideas quickly turned into a stimulating discussion  sailing through the Guild Building, the history of Bristol’s institutions, the change of buildings and stories of those experience deaf and disabled culture in Bristol. Steered by a wealth of knowledge of the group and their desired lines of enquiry, we learnt from each other and our interests. An encouraging start for the Bristol Research and archive group and an exciting opening of themes and ideas for us to explore.

The next meeting for the VRAG group will be on 14th of April at the Bristol Record Offices, if you would like to attend or like more information about the project or volunteering, please email grace.swordy@accnetuateuk.org
